Fishing

Oak Haven RV Park is located in Oakland, Mississippi, just minutes from Enid Lake's main boat ramps and fishing access points. Enid Lake is a 28,000-acre reservoir in Yalobusha County known for excellent crappie, bass, catfish, and bream fishing.

Enid Lake is home to crappie (black and white), largemouth bass, channel catfish, flathead catfish, bluegill, redear sunfish (shellcracker), and white bass. Crappie fishing is particularly productive in spring when fish move shallow to spawn.

The best crappie fishing at Enid Lake is during the spring spawn, typically mid-March through mid-April when water temperatures reach 62–68°F. Fish move into shallow timber and brush piles and are highly catchable during this window.

Yes. A valid Mississippi fishing licence is required for anyone aged 16 and older. Non-resident licences are available online through the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks at mdwfp.com.

Yes. Several public boat ramps provide access to Enid Lake a short drive from the park. We are happy to point you to the nearest one when you check in.

Hunting

Yes. Yalobusha County is prime whitetail deer country, with hardwood bottoms, creek drainages, and agricultural fields that support a healthy deer population. The area receives significantly less hunting pressure than better-known Mississippi hunting destinations.

Mississippi has one of the longest deer seasons in the country. In Zone 2 (which includes Yalobusha County), archery season typically opens in early October, primitive weapon season runs in November, and gun season opens in late November and runs through January. Always verify current dates at mdwfp.com.

Yes. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers manages public hunting land around Enid Lake. A Mississippi hunting licence is required; no additional permit is typically needed for Corps land. Check current MDWFP regulations for details.

In addition to whitetail deer, the Enid Lake area offers eastern wild turkey (spring season), waterfowl (the Mississippi Flyway runs through this area), squirrel, and rabbit. It is a full hunting calendar from October through April.
